The 31-year-old journeyman of the European Challenge Tour leapt at the chance to play a full European Tour event in Austria this week and his halfway total of three-under-par has kept the joyride going.
Earlier this season the 2006 Suncoast Classic winner finished 10th at the Golden Pilsener Zimbabwe Open, but his tournaments on the 2014 Challenge Tour have not yielded big results.
Haindl has finished as high as sixth at the Alfred Dunhill Championship back in 2011, but his results have always blown hot and cold. This season there has been a turnaround for the Bloemfontein local, who has made three cuts in his six starts on the European feeder tour.
That indicates steadiness and suggests that he’s ready to contend in Europe. With an early hold on eighth place and playing the right type of golf it could be time for Haindl to produce the result that cements his position in Europe.
