Arabella is a world class estate and with a rare gem of a golf course that lives up to its name which means Âbeautiful landÂ. The design was headed by Peter Matkovich. His success has resulted in a course that complements the environment without disappointing the golfer, whether expert or amateur.
The course won the Golf Digest award for the best new course in South Africa in 1999. In 2002, the course was rated number 9 in South Africa by Golf Digest and number 5 in 2003. Arabella Golf Club gained the Compleat Golfer Five Star award in 2003.
It borders the largest natural lagoon in Southern Africa, and the ninth, 17th and 18th run parallel to the lagoon.
The golf course has been refined in the past six years with the addition of several bunkers and the revamp of the par-four sixth hole in order to rid it of its blind tee shot.
The 18 holes encompass the mountain backdrops, lagoon frontage and forests on the estate near neighbouring Kleinmond. These provide for links, parkland and coastal aspects, while the individual fairways provide natural corridors as vantage points to savour the local beauty.
