The Sunshine Tour celebrates the beginning of a new partnership this week at the Telkom Business PGA Championship as it welcomes Avis (@AvisSouthAfrica) as a partner.
Part of the celebration can be seen at the 13th hole at Country Club Johannesburg over the weekend as the first player to make a hole-in-one on the 186-metre downhill hole will win car rental for a year.
Avis Rent a Car is South Africa’s leading car rental company with over 190 branches throughout Southern Africa. The Avis total transport solution consists of Avis Rent a Car, Avis Point 2 Point, Avis Chauffeur Drive, Avis Luxury Cars, Avis Van Rental and Avis Truck Rental, Avis Car Sales, Avis MiniLease and Avis Fleet Services.
“The Sunshine Tour is delighted to be partners with a company like Avis which so obviously mirrors the excellence for which we strive on the Tour,” said Sunshine Tour Executive Director Selwyn Nathan. “They provide us with a critical component in the staging of tournaments around the country, and they do so with their customary efficiency.”
Avis Chief Executive Officer Keith Rankin said he was pleased to be associated with the Sunshine Tour. “We have long admired the work the Tour does,” he said “and it is a great addition to our existing partnerships and we look forward to a long and mutually beneficial relationship.”
Avis will be supplying vehicles for tournament staff for the next three years, and there will be Avis evacuation vehicles at all tournaments during that time too.
With the Sunshine Tour visiting golf courses all over Southern Africa, it is appropriate that, over the years, environmental focus has been a strategic sustainability pillar for Avis and the company's efforts have featured intensive water recycling (now almost 100 million litres of water recycled per annum). Avis was the first South African company to achieve ‘Carbon Neutral’ accreditation. A number of other environmental initiatives has led to Avis receiving a number of awards for their approach in this area of business.
