I’ve travelled so much in the past 20 years as a tour professional that there aren’t many places that are totally new to me, so it was great to be in Vancouver last week. Aside from flying in here a couple of times – I also played a Shell Wonderful World of Golf match a couple of hours up the road at Whistler in the late 1990s – it was my first proper visit to this city. It’s a beautiful place and RBC is doing a great job with this historic tournament. We had a quality field here last week and the golf course at Shaughnessy was very much in the style of US Open set-ups. That often goes well for me and sure enough I had a couple of nice rounds, which was very encouraging.
