Branden Grace burned up the Jumeirah Golf Estates track on Friday to go 10-under-par for the DP World Golf Championship. An incredible six wins in one season is on the cards.
ÂItÂs been great and IÂm really thrilled to be in a position at the moment. IÂm up there at the moment and you never know whatÂs going to happen, he said.
The 24-year-old holds the European Tour record for the most wins in a single season after his superb 2012 season. He has only gone from strength to strength this year, and had to stretch his memory to think back to the same time last year.
Â12 months ago I was just thinking of getting my card back. Back then was a grind. You knew you had to make some cash to go on to the next couples of weeks and things like that. ItÂs nice to know that I can tee it up and not worry about things. IÂm pretty set for the next couple of years of my life and I donÂt have that many issues out there, so itÂs nice to play what you love, he said.
HeÂll face the toughest opponents at the weekend in Dubai, with Rory McIlroy, Luke Donald and Louis Oosthuizen all in the mix. His competitors only serve to show just how far heÂs come. In turn, GraceÂs success has hit a chord with some of the Sunshine Tour pros, and heÂll surely look to finish the European season on a high.
ÂI know IÂm a big inspiration for the guys back home, he said. ÂItÂs nice to know that I am and to give some of the guys hope. ThereÂs a lot of guys whoÂve tried for a couple of years and itÂs nice for them to see this and for me itÂs great to be an inspiration for a few of guys.
ÂIÂm really excited, especially the way I was hitting the ball. ItÂs going to be a tough week and a thrilling golf week!Â
