The young star showed real determination on Monday after carding a double-bogey six early into the second round. He gritted his teeth and went on to birdie three of his next four holes to make the turn at one-under.
He made a further birdie heading onto the back stretch and didn't look back, adding further birdies at the 13th, 16th and 18th to make the clbuhouse on seven-under-par and three shots behind leader John Hahn.
Stone has four long rounds to play in the marathon qualifying school finale, but he's great headway thus far. All that remains is to keep it up.
Keith Horne fought hisb way back into the mix with a Monday 68, which moved him to tied 55th on two-under, while Tjaart van der Walt shot 69 to rise into a share of 66th on one-under.
Andrew McLardy had a dismal start and carded 77 on Sunday, which made his Monday 65 that much more exciting. He currently shares 81st on a level par total.
