Callie Swart headed up the list of qualifiers on Tuesday who made it into the main draw of the Africom Zimbabwe Open after the pre-qualifying round at Chapman Golf Club.
He carded a five-under-par 67 ahead of ThursdayÂs first round of the tournament that will be played for the second year in succession at Royal Harare Golf Club.
He took the top spot ahead of ZimbabweÂs Nicholas McDonald and South African veteran Nic Henning, who each signed for a three-under-par 69.
Swart made two bogeys  on the par-three third and the par-four 16th  but a run of three consecutive birdies from the fifth to the seventh got him into a strong position, and four more birdies assured him of his spot on Thursday.
ZimbabweÂs Jack Rogers and South AfricaÂs Paul Marks had two-under-par 70, with Zimbabwe amateur Emmanuel Hungwe carding a one-under-par 71 together with NigeriaÂs Andrew Odoh.
The balance of the places went to South African Jake Redman, KenyaÂs Dismas Indiza and Zimbabwean Elijah Davison.
The final places amongst the 10 qualifiers were taken by Indiza and Davison after they survived a playoff with Mohammad Mandhu of Zimbabwe and Attie Schwartzel.
The R1,250,000 Sunshine Tour event was won last year on its return to the Southern African circuit by Jbe Kruger, who, in winning his second professional title, launched a successful season spent mainly on the Asian Tour where he garnered two second-place finishes.
