This week he turns to the Western Cape, where he has won before, in the hopes of lifting a fourth career title at the Vodacom Origins of Golf presented by Samsung at Langebaan Country Estate.
In 2011 Swanepoel went 11-under after 54 holes at Arabella Country Club to win the Vodacom Origins of Golf there, so he is no stranger to competing in the wet and windy conditions of the Mother City and surrounds.
Storms are in the forecast this week and it will surely be much of the same at the coastal Langebaan setup, and winning will take concentration.
Last year the Western Cape leg of the Vodacom Origins of Golf series was held at Arabella Country Club, where Jean Hugo won after the tournament was reduced to 36 holes.
There is a tournament to win, regardless of the weather, and Swanepoel, who ranks 16th on the Sunshine Tour Order of Merit, is shaping up nicely going into the week.
The 30-year-old recently tied for ninth at the Investec Royal Swazi Open, and a fortnight prior to that he shot a Sunday 66 at Nkana Golf Club to share fifth at the Mopani/Redpath Zambia Open.
He’s managed to post some proper scores over the last two months on tour, but stringing the rounds together has been his shortfall. This week could well be the one in which Swanepoel claims his first win of 2015.
