First tournament ace for Harding

2016 Tshwane Open: Day 1Justin Harding, who was the overnight leader after round one of the Tshwane Open, made his first tournament hole-in-one at the par-three 14th at Pretoria Country Club.

Speaking after a disappointing round of five-over-par 75, which left him in a tie for seventh, Harding said, “I’m super excited. I haven’t had one in tournament play before so it was quite nice.”

A short downhill par-three, the 14th at Pretoria Country Club isn’t as easy as it reads, especially with the pin positions currently on display this week. With much of the talk about how difficult the course is playing, how firm the greens are and the tight pin positions, Harding can count himself lucky to hole-out from the tee box.

He said, “I didn’t really think I caught it all that great, but it was straight and it slam-dunked, which was nice.”

Unfortunately, Harding can count himself unlucky to not walk away with a new Audi A4 which is the hole-in-one prize for the last two days of play on the 14th.  He said, “We got a bit excited, but it was short-lived. A rules official came up to me and told us. But maybe Audi will be nice to me, and if no one gets one over the weekend maybe they can make a plan.”
