Prior to the season finale are four of the biggest events on the Sunshine Tour schedule: the Dimension Data Pro-Am, the Joburg Open, the Africa Open and the Tshwane Open.
These events carry huge points and Fisher must do well if he wants to make the Investec Cup with a reasonable chance of winning.
In 2014 the Modderfontein Golf Club professional won the R1-million tournament and claimed the main portion of the bonus pool. All-in-all he took home over R3,6-million.
“It’s always nice to win, whatever you win,” he said while holding the trophy. “Whether it’s a winter event on the Sunshine Tour or a co-sanctioned event with the European Tour. It’s another notch on the belt and it gives you confidence. But this is really life-changing, no question about it. I’m so thrilled to win.”
As of this week the 35-year-old ranked fourth in the points standings. He’s been accumulating since the Telkom Business PGA Championship in March last year and nine top-20 results have helped him to reach a 1073 point total.
He remains more than 450 points short of Danie van Tonder’s lead and has until the Tshwane Open to secure a good position going into the Investec Cup.
