The 54-hole events of the winter season provide the Sunshine Tour regulars a good chance to earn big points. This week the Vodacom Origins of Golf presented by Samsung series heads to Wild Coast Sun Country Club, where there are a total of 1000 points available.
The series visited Wild Coast Sun back in 2011 and four-time European Tour winner Darren Fichardt clinched the title.
The Chase to the 2015 Investec Cup began at this year’s Telkom Business PGA Championship and incorporates every Sunshine Tour event until the week preceding the Investec Cup tournament next March. Bigger events, such as those co-sanctioned with the European Tour, offer more points.
The top 30 players on the Investec Cup standings qualify for the Investec Cup tournament next March, where they will be playing for a shared bonus pool of R10 million, plus the prize money for the tournament.
Earlier this year Trevor Fisher Jnr won the Investec Cup and walked away with over R6-million in prize money, which left the other Sunshine Tour professionals hungry to compete at 2015 edition.
The time to build for the Investec Cup is now, and consistent performers such as Danie van Tonder and Ulrich van den Berg will be eyeing the points that come with a good result. For Nel a victory has completely changed his Investec Cup chances.
