Justin joins the ranks in Europe

Beginning his maiden European Tour season with five tournaments on home soil will have helped Justin Walters adjust to the competition, and now he must head north in search of European glory.

At 76th in the Race to Dubai, Walters has missed just one cut in his seven starts on the European Tour this season. That makes him a solid bet for a good result at this week’s Trophee Hassan II, which plays out in Morocco.

He’s already surpassed his earning on the 2012 Challenge Tour, earnings that were worth 15th on that tour’s Order of Merit. That 15th-place finish in the final standings sorted out Walters’ European Tour card for the season, and he’s taken full advantage thus far.

Now he’s heading North and will contest in Europe after his final stop in Africa at the Trophee Hassan II this week. The 32-year-old is no stranger to travel, and bases himself in North Carolina. After his successful run on local shores he’ll be ready to face the new experiences on the European Tour.

And the jovial Walters can produce the goods when he needs to. In the Apulia San Domenico Grand Final last year he shot a Sunday 67 and finished to fifth, crucially securing his card for 2013.

With two Sunshine Tour wins to his name and the confidence built over six good tournaments, Walters looks set to once again perform. We may yet be calling him ‘Mr. Consistency’

And speaking of consistency,Keith Horne needs a mention. Nick-named ‘ATM’ because he always makes the cut, Horne has a solid chance of threatening this week.

His five Sunshine Tour wins prove that a European victory is long overdue, and with plenty of big names already in America ahead of The Masters, this week could prove very fruitful for a player as consistent as Horne.

Joining the South African front is Garth Mulroy, who clinched victory at the Alfred Dunhill Championship in 2011. The nonchalant North Carolina resident has the enough game to win anywhere in the world, and if it clicks in Morocco then second European title is highly likely.
