Currently in a tie for 10th at the BMW SA Open championship proudly hosted by the City of Ekurhuleni, Zander Lombard has set his sights on a first career win for 2016, as well as obtaining full status on the European Tour.
Speaking on Saturday after his third round was called off early at Glendower Golf Club, Lombard said, “I want to earn my European Tour card, full status would be great and I definitely want to get that first W. That’ll be nice.”
Having contended well at The Australian PGA Championship and finishing in sole possession of fourth place, Lombard believes his performance on the Gold Coast has motivated him to do well in the year ahead.
He said, “It was such a tough course and to know that I can compete at the highest level in difficult conditions was really motivating and it definitely boosts your confidence.”
Lombard will be looking for a solid finish come Sunday and with his game looking more consistent than before there is no reason to believe he can’t achieve great things. He said, “I’ve been hitting it well, driving it well, putting it well. I haven’t made a lot of mistakes and I think that’s been my key to consistency.”
