Louis looking good at Ballantine’s

Louis Oosthuizen looked solid at the Ballantine's Championship on Thursday, reaching four-under-par before bad light forced the 2010 Open Champion to stop the round with two holes left to play.

“I’m feeling good, spinning it well – I haven't hit it that well in a while like I did on the front nine,” he said.

The world number seven is the top-ranked player in the field, and it showed as he raced to the turn at six-under. On the back nine things got a little windy, and the 30-year-old slipped at the 10th and 12th.

"Then I teed off on ten and the wind came in," said Oosthuizen, who required just 30 shots to reach the turn. "With the weather coming in, I probably just missed two shots and put myself in really tough spots to get up and down and then made bogey,” he said.

Five players posted 67 before the close of play on Thursday, which gave the South African a clear target for tomorrow. With two holes left and just one shot off the pace, it can well be expected that King Louis looks for one last birdie from his first round.

The layout of Blackstone Golf Club clearly suits Oosthuizen, who will be pleased with his form after his uncharacteristic missed cut at The Masters a fortnight ago.

There is still plenty of golf to come, but the seven-time Sunshine tour winner has set himself up for a great week in South Korea and looks as threatening as ever.

"It’s a good start," he said. "I’m hitting it really well. I made nice putts, hit it fairly close the front nine, and probably made one or two longish birdie putts."

Jbe' Kruger managed to work his way to two-under before being called off on the 13th hole, and will look to continue scoring over the six holes that remain in his first round. He was joined by fellow Sunshine Tour campaigner Adilson da Silva, who also hit the two-under mark before the delay.

Keith Horne reached the turn at one-under before play was called off, completing an impressive Thursday showing by the Sunshine Tour representatives.
