“It’s quite exciting to go into an event like that. It’s a nice initiative for the tour to give us an event like this where you have an opportunity to feel what it would be like to go into a FedExCup or an Investec Cup in future,” he said.
The 27-year-old is building towards the season finale at The Els Club, Copperleaf with the aim of finishing top of the Big Easy Order of Merit.
“It’s quite close and we’re preparing for Copperleaf. Winning proves to yourself that you’ve got the ability. It’s a nice building block to move forward from and all 30 guys going to tour champs have the idea of winning and whoever mentally lasts it out will probably win in the end,” he said.
The Pretoria local plays out of Copperleaf and he’s well aware of how the course will play when the tournament starts on September 15th. It will take some gutsy, aggressive golf to score well enough for the victory.
“I think it will be an interesting week, because the seasons are changing and we could get combined conditions. We might get dry fairways and softer greens, which will make it an interesting scoring week,” he said.
