Ockie Strydom made par on the first playoff hole on Tuesday to beat Divan Gerber into the field of the R540,000 Vodacom Origins of Golf event at Simola Golf Estate.
Strydom took the 10th and final position available in the playoff from Gerber who had his maiden victory as a professional last week on the Sunshine Big Easy Tour presented by Stonehage.
The pre-qualifier for the 54-hole event which gets underway on Thursday was contested by 34 players looking for 10 positions in the event which will feature 70 players playing two rounds with amateur guests of the sponsors, after which a cut will be made to the top 40 pros and those tying on that score  and they will battle it out over the final round.
The pre-qualifier was won by Garry Hill with a fine seven-under-par 65, with Wynand Dingle two shots behind him on 67 in second.
Jake Redman and Francois van Vuuren carded four-under 68 each, with Ryan Hood and Johan Bekker on three-under-par 69.
Ahead of Strydom in a share of seventh were Lyle Rowe, Mark Fensham and Mark Williams.
Ryan Thompson and Patrick Spindler narrowly missed out on getting into the playoff for 10th spot as they each carded one-over-par 73.
