Tyrone Ryan is aiming for a solid result in the R100 000 Benoni Country Club event on the Sunshine Big Easy Tour presented by Stonehage on Thursday and Friday.
RyanÂs tally of six money finishes after eighth events includes a win at the Irene Country Club event, and he is currently seventh on the Sunshine Big Easy TourÂs Order of Merit.
In his rookie year, 22-year-old Ryan received a taste of professional earnings at Crown Mines when he took a share of 16th at one-over-par.
Three weeks later RyanÂs consecutive rounds of 67 and tournament score of 10-under-par would remain unmatched at Irene Country Club. He won by two shots.
Ryan continued the good form with a tie for seventh at Observatory Golf Club in May.
At Glendower in June he not only shot a second round 67, but he also added an ace to his scorecard on the third hole. He closed the tournament tied for third.
After retiring from the Kempton Park event, Ryan managed 22nd at ERPM, but after that step forward took two back when he finished at seven-over at Maccauvlei Golf Club in July.
He pulled it back with a top-20 finish at Houghton Golf Club three weeks ago when he finished in a share of 17th.
Ryan must make a full return to form at Benoni in order to improve from seventh on the Sunshine Big Easy Tour Order of Merit ahead of the Tour Championship in September.
