Andrew Georgiou missed the cut in the Joburg Open, and, just days later, played the Royal Johannesburg and Kensington East Course setup two strokes better to take one of three spots from the Open Championship International Final Qualifier Africa.
ItÂs been a good year for the 26-year-old on the Sunshine Tour: Three of his five top-10 finishes came in quick succession as he contended for three weeks in a row, and came up just short. He was second in the Sun City Challenge, third in the Lombard Insurance Classic and fifth in the Vodacom Origins of Golf at Zebula.
While not converting all that pressure into a maiden professional victory has been the source of a little frustration, he is a patient man, and has been gearing his efforts around his trip to Royal Lytham and St Annes.
Should he make the cut in the Open, he will relax and show off his not inconsiderable skills.
