From 31 August to 2 September Christiaan Basson will take on 71 fellow professionals at Sishen Golf Club in the fifth Vodacom Origins of Golf event in the six-tournament series.
Basson has already recorded two top-10 finishes on the Origins Tour in 2011 and is currently 14th on the Sunshine TourÂs Order of Merit thanks to three other top-10 showings, but has been unable to close the deal and take a win in 2011.
He took his maiden professional victory in 2009 when he won the Coca-Cola Championship by four strokes from soon-to-be-Open champion Louis Oosthuizen and Andrew Curlewis.
The 29-year-oldÂs first display of solid form this season was a second-place finish in the MTC Namibia PGA Championship with a score of 15-under-par in March.
The Cape Town local followed the result with a third-place finish in Swaziland at the Investec Royal Swazi Open in April.
Basson tied for 10th at the Lombard Insurance Classic after taking a share of 21st at both the Nashua Golf Challenge and the Vodacom Origins event at Pretoria Country Club.
The Vodacom Origins event at Arabella Golf Resort saw Basson card eight-under for his three rounds. He came second to a charging Chris Swanepoel.
This month Basson tied third in the Vodacom Origins Wild Coast event, but subsequently missed the cut at Simola Golf Estate.
Despite struggling on the back nine at the Wild Coast event earlier this month, Basson shot three-under-par for a share of third in the latest event on the Vodacom Origins Tour.
Basson must knuckle-down if he wants to win at Sishen ahead of the Vodacom Origins of Golf Final at Legend Golf and Safari Resort in Limpopo, which kicks off on 19 September.
