International Final Qualifying (IFQ) events for The Open Championship were introduced in 2004 and are held on five continents to give more players from around the world the chance to gain direct entry into golf’s oldest championship.

Venue: Royal Johannesburg & Kensington, Johannesburg, South Africa.
Field size: 75 players.
Eligibility: (1) Past Open Champions.
(2) Any player with OWGR pointage at date of entry. A place in the starting field of IFQ will be subject to OWGR ranking on the closing date.
(3) Past Champions of The Masters, The US Open and The US PGA Championship
(4) Anyone who played in the 2011 Open Championship at Royal St George’s
3 players will qualify directly into The Open Championship.
AN ELIGIBLE PLAYER MAY PLAY IN ONLY ONE OF THE FIVE INTERNATIONAL FINAL QUALIFYING EVENTS OR ALTERNATIVELY HE MAY PLAY IN LOCAL FINAL QUALIFYING.
