Stonehage Big Easy 30: CJ duPlessis

CJ du Plessis has peaked at the right time, finishing sole third at Big Easy Copperleaf and then tied fourth at Big Easy ERPM to reach 18th on the Order of Merit and secure his spot at Tour Champs.

In seven starts on the development tour he’s picked up five money finishes, but his best moments have come in the last two months.

At The Els Club, Copperleaf he navigated the length of the course well and shot 69 for the final round, securing sole third as his competitors fell by the wayside.

A week later at Big Easy ERPM, which was the final event of the regular season, he opened with a seven-under-par 65 on his way to a share of fourth place.

In June he finished as high as tied sixth at the Sunshine Tour’s Vodacom Origins of Golf Simola tournament after finishing on a four-under-par total.

The 22-year-old is playing his rookie season this year, which makes his inclusion in the Big Easy Tour Championship that much more special.

As an amateur he represented South Africa from 2010 to 2012 and played tests across the globe against Scotland, Argentina and France. Those experiences will prove invaluable as he takes his first crack at a Tour Championship.
