Stonehage Big Easy 30: Dean O’Riley

A contender on the Big Easy Tour since 2011, Dean O’Riley capped off the 2013 season with a win at Big Easy ERPM and stitched up ninth on the Tour Championship ranking.

 

The gifted youngster from Benoni has won twice on the Big Easy Tour and this season has made six cheques in nine starts.

 

O’Riley started the year on a high note, carding rounds of 67, 66 at Big Easy Observatory and picking up sole third for his efforts. A naughty spell forced the 24-year-old t put in some hard work after he missed out on a cheque for the following month.

 

The Eisenhower Trophy winner put his nose to the grind stone and his hard work began to show. Over his next five Big Easy starts he finished every time in the money.

 

The climax to O’Riley’s season came at Big Easy ERPM, where he eagled 17 and birdied 18 during the final round to grab victory with both hands.

 

The Tour Championship plays out at Ebotse Golf & Country Estate, which is the home course of O’Riley. With a recent win and home-ground advantage, the confident youngster is a bookies favourite for the season finale.
