Stonehage Big Easy 30: Divan Gerber

The halfway mark in the Tour Championship countdown is held by none other than Divan Gerber, a former Big Easy winner ranked 15th on the Order of Merit this season.

Gerber has been in contention several times this season, most notably at Big Easy Kempton Park where he followed an opening 64 with a second-round 68 to force a playoff. A wayward drive during the first playoff hole destroyed his chance at victory, but he none-the-less shared second.

A month late he carded an impressive 69 during the final round at Big Easy Houghton to secure a share of sixth place, and a month further along the timeline he tied for fifth at Big Easy Royal Johannesburg & Kensington.

The Bethlehem Golf Club professional has five money finishes from nine starts on the Big Easy this season, but is a mercurial player. When it goes well for Gerber, it goes very well. That makes the 25-year-old a dangerous man for the Big Easy Tour Championship at Ebotse Golf Estate, where he could produce the same magic that earned him a win at Big Easy Maccauvlei back in 2011.

With a collective seven top-five results spanning his three years on the Big Easy Tour, Gerber certainly presents a threat to the title at Tour Champs.
