Stonehage Big Easy 30: Henk Alberts

The second ‘wild card’ at this year’s Tour Championship, Henk Alberts is a journeyman with two top-10 results on the Big Easy Tour this season.

The gentle giant from Pretoria has 11 top-10 results on the Sunshine Tour to his name and is no stranger to contention.

Alberts turned professional after representing South Africa seven times and playing in the Eisenhower Trophy twice. It’s been 13 years since he turned pro, and in that time he’s gone as high as second on the Sunshine Tour, but is yet to lift a trophy.

This season the 37-year-old worked his way into the Big Easy Tour Championship through two big results. At Big Easy Houghton he shared sixth and the following week tied for fourth at Big Easy Benoni.

Further money finishes at Big Easy Copperleaf and Big Easy ERPM earned him a place in the final at Ebotse Golf Estate, and his experience will prove invaluable as he looks for a late surge in his career.
