Toto Thimba has always been good with the flat stick and on Friday it helped him to reach nine-under-par during the second round of the Vodacom Origins of Golf presented by Samsung at Koro Creek Golf Estate.
“I’ve been working hard on my short game, putting especially. I hit the ball pretty good and I’ve been putting well this week, so that’s helped me to score,” he said.
The 29-year-old is a graduated from the Big Easy Tour after winning in both the 2012 and 2013 seasons.
He’s settled into life on the main tour well, but needs a final push before the lucrative events of summer. In order to do that he’ll need to capitalise on his recent good form, which culminated in his share of third going into the final round at Koro Creek this week.
“I felt really good on the greens and the whole week that’s been a strong point for me. If I can continue to play the way I have over the first two days then I’m sure I’ll have a real chance in the final round on Saturday,” he said.
The Mamelodi local is on track for a top result and needs to keep the putts dropping in order to get the most out of this week in Limpopo.
