Young, talented: Dean Burmester (No. 3)

2016 BMW SA Open: Day 2At 26 years old, Dean Burmester seems to be in the prime of his career.

Dean represents Schoeman Park Golf Club and is a proud product of the Free State region.

He had a distinguished amateur career which included selection for his province in the 2008 and 2009 interprovincials. He also won the International Team Championships in 2009, and decided to turn pro the year after.

He endured a tough first season on the Sunshine Tour, but has steadily improved since, and found himself inside the top 40 on the order of merit in 2012.

He broke through for his maiden Sunshine Tour victory in the 2013 Polokwane Classic, and soon followed it up, just a few weeks later, with his second title, this time in the Sun City Classic.

He had to wait until 2015 for his next victory, but the big win in the Golden Pilsener Zimbabwe Open opened the floodgates, and he won three more times on the Sunshine Tour on his was to his fourth-place finish on the Order of Merit.

Burmester has now been on the tour for some time, but it is his performances of late that has had heads turning and, as a result of his great year leads the 2015/16 Chase to the Investec Cup.

With a T10 finish at the 2016 BMW SA Open, he looks to be carrying that form into the new season.
