Brooks leading SA Open pack

2016 BMW SA Open: Day 2Englishman Daniel Brooks was in sole possession of the lead going into round three on Saturday at the 2016 BMW SA Open Championship proudly hosted by the City of Ekurhuleni, at Glendower Golf Club.

After opening round one with a solid four-under par 68, Brooks completed his rain delayed second round of five-under par 67 on Saturday morning, to lead the chasing pack by one.

Brooks said, Yeah I got out there this morning and played some really good golf. It was a bit more calm this morning and I played some nice golf.

For a man with who says he is still rusty from not practicing during the off season, Brooks is more than happy with his opening two rounds of the championship. I wasnt expecting too much coming out here this week, and I havent done much practicing over the last two months or so, so Im a bit rusty but its going well.

One shot back from Brooks is the massively experienced Keith Horne. With a flawless, bogey-free round of three-under 69 on Friday, Horne seems to be playing some of his best golf. He said, I was trying to get to 10-under, but it was tough out there. Whether the guys go past me or not, there are still two days to go and like I said, Im very happy with eight-under after two days.

Jbe Kruger and Branden Grace are two off the lead in third place at seven-under par for the championship. Like Brooks, Grace came in early on Saturday morning to finish off his second round, and could easily be sharing the lead with the Englishman. After a bogey, bogey finish, he is looking to make up those dropped shots this afternoon. He said, Its always disappointing to finish bogey, bogey, but its alright. Hopefully I can birdie those two holes this afternoon.
